Equipment hauling with Auto Lyft USA means using the same flatbed carriers that move cars around Columbus to carry the machines people own for work, land and play. A tilt deck makes loading simple: the bed slides back to the ground, the machine drives or is winched up, and it is tied down for the trip. No trailer rental, no borrowed pickup and no wrestling a mower up a pair of loose ramps.
The limit is the truck. Our fleet is four light-duty flatbeds, so we take riding mowers, zero-turns, compact and sub-compact tractors, golf carts, side-by-sides, utility trailers, portable generators, and small skid steers or mini excavators whose weight falls within the carrier's rating. Before a truck is sent, the dispatcher asks for the make, model and attachments so the weight can be checked. If a machine is too heavy for us, we tell you on that call and connect you with a partner who runs larger equipment.
Call (614) 633-8163 with the pickup address, the delivery address and a description of what is moving. Mention whether it runs, whether it has a bucket, deck or loader attached, and how the truck reaches it, since a machine in a back pasture or behind a fence needs a plan. You hear the total for the move before it is scheduled, and planned moves can be booked for a day that suits you.
When to call
Situations where equipment hauling is the right call
Mower to the repair shop
A riding mower or zero-turn that quit mid-season goes to the small-engine shop on the deck, and comes back when it is fixed.
Compact tractor purchase
Bought a used sub-compact tractor from a seller in another county? We pick it up and drop it at your property, within the weight rating.
Golf carts and side-by-sides
Moving a cart between a home and a lake lot, to a dealer for batteries, or to a neighborhood event is a short, simple load.
Small skid steer or mini excavator
Light machines for a backyard project can ride the flatbed if they fit the rating. The dispatcher checks weight with the bucket or attachment included.
Utility trailers with a problem
A trailer with a broken axle, a bad hitch or no tow vehicle available can be loaded onto the deck instead of pulled.
Generators and farm items
Towable or skid-mounted generators, pressure washers on trailers and similar items move the same way, again within the truck's limit.
On scene
How our drivers handle it
Confirm weight and size
The dispatcher gathers the model, attachments and approximate weight, then confirms the item fits the deck and the carrier's rating before booking.
Check the access
The driver looks at the ground, gates and overhead wires between the road and the machine, and picks the best spot to set the deck down.
Drive or winch it on
Running machines are driven up the tilted bed at low speed. Non-running ones are pulled up by the winch with the brakes released.
Secure every point
Chains or straps go to the machine's tie-down points, buckets and decks are lowered, and loose parts are removed or secured before leaving.
What fits, and what goes to a partner
A light-duty flatbed handles a lot of the equipment found around homes, small farms and landscaping businesses in Central Ohio. Where it stops is weight and size. Full-size tractors, standard skid steers with heavy attachments, backhoes, and larger excavators belong on a heavier truck or a lowboy trailer, and we won't try to squeeze them onto a carrier built for cars.
When something is over the line, the dispatcher says so on the first call and points you toward a partner with the right truck. For trucks and vans in that weight range, see medium-duty towing.
- Usually a fit: riding mowers, zero-turns, garden tractors, compact and sub-compact tractors, golf carts, UTVs and ATVs.
- Often a fit: small skid steers and mini excavators, depending on model and attachments.
- Also fine: single-axle utility trailers, small enclosed trailers and portable generators within the rating.
- Sent to a partner: anything over the carrier's weight rating or wider than the deck.
Rural pickups in Madison, Pickaway and Licking counties
A lot of equipment work happens outside the city, on acreage and small farms around London, Circleville and Pataskala. Those jobs often mean a gravel lane, a barn lot or a pasture rather than a paved driveway. Our drivers need firm ground near the machine to set the deck down, so after a lot of rain, a soft field may need to dry out or the machine may need to be driven to the lane first.
We also do plenty of suburban moves: mowers and carts from homes in Grove City, Hilliard and the subdivisions off I-270, and small machines from rental yards and landscaping shops.
Equipment Hauling: questions and answers
What kinds of equipment hauling do you handle?
We move items that fit on a light-duty flatbed and fall within its weight rating: riding mowers, compact tractors, golf carts, UTVs, utility trailers, generators, and small skid steers or mini excavators that are light enough. The dispatcher confirms the weight before a truck goes out, and heavier items go to a partner.
How much does equipment hauling cost?
The price reflects the distance to the pickup, the length of the haul, the time of day and how easy the machine is to reach and secure. The dispatcher quotes the full job before it is scheduled. Our rates page covers how each part of the charge is figured.
How do you know if my machine is too heavy?
We ask for the make, model and any attachments, then check the operating weight against the carrier's rating. Buckets, loaders, backhoe attachments and ballast all add weight. If you have the owner's manual or a spec sheet, it helps to have it nearby when you call.
Can you haul a skid steer?
Small skid steers and compact track loaders can ride on our flatbeds if their weight with the bucket falls within the rating. Many full-size models are too heavy for a light-duty carrier. Give the dispatcher the model number, and you'll get a clear yes or a referral on the first call.
Do you haul golf carts?
Yes. Golf carts load easily, whether they run or not. We move them between homes, lake lots, dealers, battery shops and events. Tell the dispatcher if the cart is lifted, has oversized tires or carries a rear seat kit, and whether it is gas or electric.
Can you move a non-running mower or tractor?
Yes. The winch pulls it up the deck, so it doesn't need to run. We do need the brakes released and the steering free, or at least a way to roll it. If the machine is stuck in the mud or in a shed, let the dispatcher know.
Can you pick up equipment from a farm or field?
Yes, if the truck can get close on firm ground. Carriers are heavy and can sink into wet soil, so the driver may set the deck down on a lane or gravel pad. If needed, drive or drag the machine to a solid spot before we arrive.
Do you haul trailers?
Yes. Small utility trailers, landscape trailers and lightweight enclosed trailers can ride on the deck, which is helpful when the axle, bearings or hitch is damaged. Tell the dispatcher the trailer's length and whether it is loaded, since cargo counts against the weight rating.
How soon can you pick up my equipment?
Timing depends on the distance to the pickup, traffic and what else is on the schedule. For planned moves, booking a day or two ahead makes it easier to set a window. If it is urgent, the dispatcher can give a live estimate of when a truck can get there.
Will you tie down my equipment properly?
Yes. The driver uses the machine's designated tie-down points where it has them, lowers buckets and mower decks to the bed, and secures anything that could shift. For machines without marked points, the driver chooses solid frame members and avoids hoses and wiring.
Can you deliver equipment to a job site?
Yes. We can bring a machine to a construction site or a property where work is happening, as long as there is room for the carrier to set its deck down. Give the dispatcher a site contact and any access details like gate codes.
Can you haul an ATV or side-by-side?
Yes. ATVs and UTVs are among the easiest loads, whether they are headed to a dealer for service, to a hunting property or home from a seller. They drive or winch up the deck and are strapped at the frame or wheels. Mention any winch, plow blade or roof that changes the size.
Is equipment hauling available in winter?
Yes. Winter is a common time to take mowers and carts in for service before spring. Snow and ice change how a driver approaches a yard or lane, so let the dispatcher know about unplowed drives. Snow blower tractors and machines with plow attachments are fine if they fit the rating.
Do I need to be there for pickup or delivery?
It helps, especially for a machine with quirks in how it starts or steers. If you can't be there, leave the key where the driver can find it and tell the dispatcher about anything unusual. The machine is photographed when it is loaded.
What equipment hauling costs
This work is priced per job because the equipment, distance and time vary so much. Call (614) 633-8163 with the details and the office quotes it before anything is scheduled. See the rates page for our standard charges.
