Pay-Per-Call Roadside Assistance Across Columbus and Nearby Suburbs

When the car is fine except for one problem, one of our drivers fixes that problem on the spot, so you can keep your day moving.

  • Open 24/7, 365 days
  • Flatbed-only fleet
  • Price quoted before dispatch
  • Licensed & insured

Roadside assistance from Auto Lyft USA is for the breakdowns that do not need a tow. A battery that went flat overnight, keys sitting on the driver seat behind a locked door, a tire that lost its air on the way to work, or a gas gauge that was more optimistic than it should have been. In Columbus, one of our drivers rolls out and handles the issue at the curb, in the parking lot or on the shoulder, often in less time than it would take to arrange a ride.

There is no club to join and no yearly fee. You call when something goes wrong, the dispatcher asks what happened and where you are, and you hear the full price for that one service call before anyone is sent. If you already have coverage through your insurer or a motor club, you can still call us directly and pay for the visit yourself, which some drivers prefer when their provider is backed up on a snowy morning.

Because every truck we send is a flatbed, the driver can also load the car on the spot if the roadside fix does not work. That means a dead alternator or a ruined tire does not leave you waiting for a second company. Call (614) 633-8163 any hour of the day or night, or start a service request online.

When to call

Situations where roadside assistance is the right call

  • Car won't start

Clicking, a slow crank or total silence usually points to the battery. A jump start and a quick test tell you whether it will hold a charge or needs replacing.

  • Locked out

Keys in the ignition, on the seat or in a trunk that latched shut. The driver uses proper entry tools to open the door without damage.

  • Flat or shredded tire

If you have a usable spare, we mount it, tighten the lug nuts properly and stow the damaged tire. Tire pressure warnings on a cold morning are common here.

  • Ran out of gas

A few gallons go in your tank, which is plenty to reach a pump. Running dry is common on long stretches like US-33 toward Lancaster or I-71 north of Polaris.

  • Slid off the edge

A car with two wheels in a snowy ditch or a soft lawn can often be pulled back to pavement with a winch, no tow needed.

  • Fix fails, car needs to go

If the problem is bigger than a roadside repair, the same driver can load your car on the flatbed and take it to your shop or home.

On scene

How our drivers handle it

  1. Tell us the problem

The dispatcher asks what the car is doing, the year, make and model, and where it is parked or stopped, including which direction you were traveling.

  2. Hear the price

You get the full quoted cost of the service call before a truck is assigned, plus a live time estimate based on traffic and distance.

  3. Driver fixes it

The driver confirms the issue on arrival, explains what they will do, and handles the jump, unlock, tire, fuel or winch-out.

  4. Check before leaving

The driver makes sure the car starts, the doors work or the spare is secure, and that you are able to drive off before packing up.

What our roadside calls cover

Each of these is a separate service with its own page. If you are not sure which one you need, describe the symptoms and the dispatcher will sort it out.

  • Battery boosts with a portable jump pack and a basic voltage test, plus battery replacement on site when the old one is done.
  • Lockout service for cars, trucks and SUVs, including keys locked in the trunk on many models.
  • Spare tire installs using your spare, or a tow to a tire shop when the spare is flat or missing.
  • Fuel delivery to get you to a gas station.
  • Winch-outs from snow, mud, grass and shallow ditches when the car can be safely pulled back.

Waiting safely for the truck

A stop on the shoulder of I-670 near downtown or the narrow stretches of SR-315 by the river is not a comfortable place to sit. If you can coast off at the next exit or into a lot, do it. If you are stuck on the highway, put your hazards on, keep your belt on while seated inside, and step out only on the side away from traffic.

In neighborhood settings, like a tight street in Clintonville or a crowded apartment lot near the Ohio State campus, tell the dispatcher about anything that will help the driver find you: a building number, a parking level, the color of your car. A precise location saves more time than anything else.

Where we drive out to

Our drivers leave from Harrisburg Pike on the southwest side, a short hop from I-70, I-71 and the outerbelt. Calls come from all over the city and suburbs such as Dublin, Reynoldsburg and Westerville. See the full list on our areas page.

Roadside Assistance: questions and answers

Do I need a membership to use your roadside assistance?

No. Auto Lyft USA works on a pay-per-call basis. There is no sign-up, no annual dues and no limit on how many times you can call. You pay for the service you receive that day, and the dispatcher tells you the full cost before a driver is sent.

What does a roadside call cost?

It depends on the service, your location, and the clock. A jump in a parking lot near our yard is a different job from a winch-out on a far edge of the county at 3 a.m. The dispatcher quotes the whole job up front, and the rates page explains how pricing is built.

How soon can someone get to me?

It comes down to how far the nearest available driver is and what traffic looks like right then, which can change a lot during rush hour on I-71 or during a winter storm. Expect a live estimate from the dispatcher on the phone, and a callback if it shifts.

Can I use you if I already have roadside coverage?

Yes. Some drivers call us when their provider has a long wait or cannot find a truck. You pay us directly for the call, and you may be able to submit the receipt to your coverage for reimbursement, depending on its terms. Check with your provider on what they accept.

What happens if the car still won't run after you help?

Since every truck we send is a flatbed, the driver can winch your car onto the deck and haul it to a repair shop, a dealer or your home. The dispatcher prices the tow separately before it happens, so you can decide whether to go ahead.

Do you change tires if I don't have a spare?

We need a usable spare to do a tire change, whether it is full-size or a compact donut. If you have no spare, or it is flat too, the practical answer is a tow to a tire shop. Some newer cars come with only an inflator kit, so check the trunk floor before you call.

Can you unlock any car?

Most cars, trucks and SUVs can be opened with standard entry tools. Some vehicles with advanced security systems are more difficult, and the driver will explain if there is a risk before trying. We cannot make keys, so if the key is lost rather than locked inside, a locksmith or dealer is the next step.

How much fuel do you bring?

Enough to get you to a nearby station so you can fill up yourself. We are not a fuel supplier, and the goal is to get you moving again safely. Tell the dispatcher whether the car takes regular gas or diesel.

Can you help if I'm in a parking garage?

Usually, yes. Jumps, lockouts and tire changes can be done in most garages because they do not need the flatbed to enter. Tell the dispatcher which level and section you are on, and whether the garage has a height limit, so the driver knows how to reach you.

Do you provide roadside help for motorcycles?

Some services, like jump starts and fuel, work fine on many motorcycles. Tire changes usually do not, because bikes rarely carry a spare. If the bike will not run, we can load it on the deck and take it where it needs to go.

Are you available on holidays and overnight?

Yes. Our dispatch never closes, including weekends, holidays and the middle of the night. Some late-night and holiday calls carry an added charge, and that charge is part of the quoted price you hear before the driver heads out. Nothing gets added after the fact for the hour you called.

Can I request roadside help for someone else?

Yes. Parents often call for a student near campus, and employers call for staff. Give us the driver's name and phone number, the car details and the location. We will confirm the price with you as the person paying and keep the driver informed.

What should I do while waiting for roadside assistance?

Stay somewhere safe, keep your phone charged, and have your ID and keys ready if they are not locked inside. When stopped beside a busy road, stay buckled in with hazards on or wait well behind a guardrail. Pick up if the driver phones, since they may need directions.

Will you jump a car with a battery that looks damaged?

No. If the case is cracked, swollen, leaking or the terminals are heavily corroded, connecting a booster can be dangerous. The driver will point out what they see and talk through options, which usually means replacing the battery on the spot or loading the car for a trip to your mechanic.
