Need a Tow in Obetz? Flatbeds for Alum Creek Drive and Beyond
Obetz is a quick outerbelt run east of our yard, and between its auto auction, its container-built stadium and its new warehouses, it sends us a surprisingly mixed set of jobs.
- Open 24/7, 365 days
- Flatbed-only fleet
- Price quoted before dispatch
- Licensed & insured
Obetz is about 6.5 miles east-southeast of our Harrisburg Pike yard, near enough that the trip is mostly a straight line along I-270. On the outerbelt, the Alum Creek Drive exit carries signs for both Obetz and Rickenbacker, and it drops our trucks beside the village government center and Memorial Park. For the west side of town, Lockbourne Road and Groveport Road work just as well.
For a small place, Obetz produces an unusually wide range of calls. Groveport Road is home to America's Auto Auction Columbus Fair, whose weekly sales bring dealers who need cars moved to and from the lanes. Fortress Obetz, the stadium raised on the old Columbus Motor Speedway grounds, fills up for matches and for Zucchinifest over Labor Day weekend. And the distribution buildings going up in the Obetz Business Park add more traffic each season.
In the residential streets it is everyday trouble: a pickup with a dead battery in a driveway off Alum Creek Drive, or a sedan with a blown tire on the outerbelt ramp. Each of those jobs is handled on a flatbed, whether the car is headed to a shop down the road or across the county. Dealers can read about our dealer and auction towing, and anyone else can call (614) 633-8163 for a quote.

Roads we get called to in Obetz
I-270 at Alum Creek Drive (Exit 49)
The outerbelt exit signed for Obetz and Rickenbacker airport, and the ramp where many of our Obetz jobs begin or end.
Alum Creek Drive
The north-south spine past the government center and Memorial Park, shared by warehouse trucks and local drivers.
Groveport Road
Runs east through the village and past the auction gates, which get congested on sale days.

Landmarks
- Fortress Obetz
A stadium assembled from 122 shipping containers on the former speedway site; its lots empty all at once after a match, so calling early beats the rush.
- America's Auto Auction Columbus Fair
An 11-lane auction on Groveport Road with sales every Wednesday, the day to book any auction moves well ahead of time.
Parks
- Memorial Park
A long park stretching from the government center to the end of Orchard Lane, where festival weekends turn parking into a puzzle.
- Dixon Quarry
A six-acre fishing lake with an archery range; give the driver its Industrial Center Drive location, since most people know it only by name.
- Junction Park
A downtown park on Lancaster Avenue with pickleball, chess tables and a seasonal ice rink, where curbside spaces run short.
Schools
- Hamilton Township High School
On Rathmell Road and serving most of Obetz; a typical spot for an afternoon jump start when a student's car sat all day in the cold.
Big employers
- Obetz Business Park
A distribution park planned at around four million square feet on 239 acres; its newest streets may be missing from older map apps, so describe your building.
Towing in Obetz: common questions
How long a trip is it from your yard to Obetz?
Short by our standards. Obetz is roughly 6.5 miles from 1620 Harrisburg Pike, and most of the route is I-270 heading east to the Alum Creek Drive exit. The dispatcher looks at what traffic is doing on the outerbelt before giving you a live arrival estimate, which is more honest than a fixed promise.
Can you move cars to or from America's Auto Auction on Groveport Road?
Yes. We carry dealer and private cars to and from the auction on flatbeds, which is how most dealers want non-running or freshly reconditioned cars to travel. Book ahead for Wednesday sales so the truck is lined up before the lanes open, and have the gate pass or release paperwork ready for the driver.
My car broke down as I was leaving a match at Fortress Obetz. What now?
Call and tell us which lot or side street you are on. After a match everyone leaves at once, and a carrier is easier to load once the crowd thins. The driver will try a jump or a spare tire first if that is the problem and tow only if the car really cannot be driven.
Do you still tow during Zucchinifest weekend?
Yes. Dispatch runs through holidays, Labor Day included. During the festival the streets around Memorial Park and the stadium get crowded, and some may be closed. Tell us exactly where the car is and whether other cars are blocking it; the driver may need to wait for a lane to clear before hooking up.
Is the Alum Creek Drive exit a bad place to break down?
It is a busy one. The exit handles outerbelt traffic plus warehouse trucks bound for Rickenbacker. If your car dies on the ramp, put the hazards on and keep well clear of passing traffic. Tell the dispatcher whether you were getting off or getting on, and from which direction of I-270.
What will an Obetz tow run me?
Since Obetz is close to our yard, the trip out to you is short, which keeps that part of the bill modest. The rest depends on where the car is headed and whether the job needs anything extra. The dispatcher quotes the full amount before a truck leaves, and our rates page explains each piece.
Can you tow from the new warehouses in the Obetz Business Park?
Yes, for cars, pickups and vans. Newer streets there can be missing from phone maps, so give the building number, the company name and which side of the building you parked on. If security has to open a gate for the truck, a quick heads-up to them saves time when the driver arrives.
Do you cover Lockbourne and Groveport from Obetz too?
Yes. Obetz sits in the middle of a cluster of southeast-side communities we serve every day. Lockbourne is just to the south and Groveport is just to the east along Groveport Road, so a truck finishing a job in one is well placed for the next. Bexley and Canal Winchester are also close by in the other directions.
