Prairie Township Towing, From New Rome to Lake Darby

Prairie Township's center is close to seven miles west of our Harrisburg Pike yard, but the township itself stretches much farther than that number suggests. Its eastern edge touches I-270 at West Broad Street, while its western reaches run out past Lake Darby Estates toward the Madison County line. Inside that area sit Lincoln Village, a good share of Galloway, and the former village of New Rome, which the township absorbed in 2004.
Because the township is long and narrow along US-40, West Broad Street generates more of our work here than any other road. The section through old New Rome, with its quick string of driveways and side streets, sees plenty of fender-benders and stalled cars. I-70 runs across the township's southern half, and drivers who break down near the Hilliard-Rome Road or SR-142 interchanges often call us first. Out west, Lake Darby Estates brings in residential calls, and the rural roads past it send us the occasional car in a ditch after a storm.
We tow every vehicle on a flatbed, so you do not have to worry about a transmission or AWD system being damaged on the way to the shop. Before a carrier heads west, the dispatcher gives you the price and a live arrival estimate based on where in the township you are. Phone (614) 633-8163 or request a tow online.
Where calls come from
Roads we get called to in Prairie Township
West Broad Street (US-40) through old New Rome
A short commercial strip with many curb cuts. Cars entering and leaving businesses cause a lot of the low-speed collisions we clear here.
I-70 at SR-142
The interchange that serves Lake Darby and the far west of the township. Breakdowns here are a long way from service stations, so fuel and tire calls are common.
Galloway Road
A north-south link through the township that Franklin County has approved for widening between O'Harra Road and West Broad; watch for work zones where shoulders disappear.
Grener Avenue
Another county widening project, between Sullivant Avenue and West Broad. Narrowed lanes during construction leave little room to pull over.
Hubbard Road and the west-side back roads
Rural township roads near the far western fire station, where winter slide-offs need a winch before the car can be loaded.

Landmarks
- Prairie Township Hall
The township offices on Maple Drive; a useful reference point if you are calling from the streets near the sports complex.
- Prairie Township Community Center
A large recreation building on West Broad Street; its lot is roomy enough that our carriers load there without trouble.
Parks
- Prairie Township Sports Complex
Next to the township hall on Maple Drive, with ball fields and ponds that fill the parking areas on game days.
- Blue Lake Park
A neighborhood park inside Lake Darby Estates, where tight subdivision streets mean the driver may stage the truck nearby and walk up first.
- Dalebrook Park
The second township park in Lake Darby Estates; give the street name, since the subdivision's loops are easy to mix up.
- Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park
The large Metro Park that crosses into the township's western side, along Big Darby Creek.
Schools
- Hilliard City Schools (northern Prairie Township)
Part of the township's north end is in the Hilliard district, so some school-lot calls here involve Hilliard buildings rather than South-Western ones.
Towing in Prairie Township: common questions
How far west do your trucks go in Prairie Township?
All the way to the township line. The center of Prairie Township sits around seven miles out from the Harrisburg Pike yard, and its western edge out past Lake Darby is farther than that. The driver usually heads out I-70 west, and once you share your exact spot, dispatch passes along a current arrival window.
Do you tow from Lake Darby Estates?
Yes. We regularly pick up cars from driveways and streets in Lake Darby Estates, including near Blue Lake Park and Dalebrook Park. The subdivision's curving streets are fine for a light-duty flatbed. Tell the dispatcher your street and house number, since the loops and cul-de-sacs look alike, and mention if the car is in a garage.
My car stalled on West Broad Street in the old New Rome area. Can you get there quickly?
That stretch of US-40 is close to our usual routes, so it is a straightforward run for us. If you are stuck in a moving lane, put the hazards on and stay inside unless it feels unsafe. The driver will move it out of traffic first and then load it on the deck, and police may help with traffic if they are on the scene.
Are the Galloway Road and Grener Avenue work zones a problem for towing?
They can be. Franklin County has approved widening both roads, and construction zones often remove the shoulder. If you break down inside a work zone, stay in the car with hazards on and call us. Our driver approaches with flashing lights and may tow the car to the nearest side street before strapping it down properly.
I broke down on I-70 near the SR-142 exit. Do you cover that?
Yes. That interchange is on the far west side of the township, near the Madison County line, and we serve it alongside nearby West Jefferson. Give us your direction of travel and the closest mile marker. If you are only out of gas, ask about fuel delivery so you can drive to a station instead of being towed.
How is a Prairie Township tow priced?
The quote reflects how far the truck travels within the township, the drop-off address, and labor like pulling a car from a ditch. A call near the I-270 end is shorter than one out by Lake Darby. The full figure is settled on the phone first, and the rates page walks through each piece of it.
Who handles towing after a crash on a township road?
When officers work a crash on a township road, they may summon whichever wrecker is next on their list. You can still ask for your own tow company, and many people choose us. We clear the debris, load the car on the flatbed, and take it to your body shop or our yard while your insurer arranges the next step.
Can you tow a car to a Hilliard shop from the north end of the township?
Yes. Many residents on the north side of the township are just a short drive from Hilliard, and we deliver to shops there all the time. We also take cars east into Columbus along Broad Street or south toward Grove City. Just give the dispatcher the shop name and address when you call.
