Dealer transport keeps inventory moving between the places a car has to visit before it sells: the auction lane, the body or paint shop, the detailer, another store in your group and, finally, the buyer's driveway. Auto Lyft USA runs those trips on light-duty flatbeds, so a vehicle that has just been cleaned, repaired or inspected arrives looking the way it did when it left.
Central Ohio has several wholesale auto auctions, and sale days fill the surrounding roads with haulers. We take single units and small batches across our four carriers, collecting from your lot or the auction's lot and delivering to wherever the vehicle needs to be next. Each car gets a photo condition report at pickup and a second one at drop-off, which settles questions about a scuff or a chipped wheel before they turn into arguments between the buyer, the seller and the shop.
We work with independent lots along the Broad Street, Morse Road and Parsons Avenue corridors, franchise stores, wholesalers, and the body and detail shops that serve them. Approved businesses can be billed monthly. To set up regular runs, ring the office at (614) 633-8163 or send the details by email to lisa@autolyftusa.online, and we will go over the routes you use most and how they are priced. Single moves for a one-time sale are welcome too, and the dispatcher can quote one of those on the same call.
When to call
Situations where dealer & auction transport is the right call
Auction purchases
Units your buyer picked up at a Central Ohio sale come back to your lot, or straight to the reconditioning shop if they need work before going on the line.
Auction consignments
Trade-ins you don't want to retail go to the sale on schedule, with photos taken before they leave so the condition on arrival is already documented.
Dealer trades
When another store has the trim and color your customer wants, we swap units between rooftops anywhere in the region.
Reconditioning loops
Cars travel from the lot to body, paint, glass, wheel repair or mechanical shops and back again, without a porter putting miles on them.
Delivery to the buyer
A sold car can be dropped at the customer's home or office in Dublin, New Albany, Grove City or anywhere else they live.
Non-running inventory
Trade-ins with dead batteries, flat tires or failed engines are winched aboard; nobody has to push a car up a ramp at the back of the lot.
On scene
How our drivers handle it
Release paperwork
For auction pickups, the dispatcher asks for the gate pass or release so the driver can get the unit out without a wait at the office.
Condition report
Before loading, the operator photographs each panel, the wheels, the interior and the odometer, and notes anything already damaged.
Load and secure
The car is pulled aboard, centered on the deck and strapped at the tires so nothing touches the paint or the suspension.
Drop-off sign-off
At the destination, a second set of photos is taken and the receiving person signs for the unit, with copies sent to your contact.
Why dealers use a flatbed for inventory
Driving inventory around town means dealer plates, insurance questions, extra mileage and a porter who isn't on the sales floor. A flatbed removes those problems. The odometer stays where it was, the vehicle doesn't need to be registered to move, and a car that won't start travels the same way as one that runs.
Carrying the car also protects reconditioning work you already paid for. Fresh paint, new tires and a detailed interior arrive the way they left the shop, and the photo report shows it.
What to include when you request a run
The more of this the dispatcher has, the fewer phone calls it takes to finish the job.
- Stock number, VIN or last six digits, with year, make, model and color.
- Pickup location, the contact there and that location's open hours.
- Gate pass or release for auction units.
- Destination address and the receiving hours.
- Known issues such as a dead battery, a missing key or a low front lip.
- The date the car needs to arrive, if there is a deadline.
Routes we run around Central Ohio
Much of our dealer work runs along I-71 between the south side and Polaris, around I-270 between Hilliard and Easton, and down US-62 and I-71 toward Grove City. Low sports cars and electric vehicles get the same care they would on any of our jobs; see low profile towing for how we load cars with very little ground clearance. For inventory headed to Cincinnati, Cleveland or out of state, ask about long-distance towing.
Dealer & Auction Transport: questions and answers
What does your dealer transport service include?
Moves between dealer lots, trips to and from the wholesale auctions in Central Ohio, runs to detail, body and mechanical shops, and deliveries to retail buyers. Each vehicle travels on a flatbed and gets a photo condition report at pickup and drop-off. Approved business accounts can be billed monthly instead of paying per job.
Do you pick up from auctions around Columbus?
Yes. Send us the release or gate pass along with the lane and run number or stock number, and the driver will collect the vehicle and bring it wherever you need. Tell dispatch about any condition notes from the sale so the driver can compare them with what they find on the lot.
How many vehicles can you move at once?
Each of our four flatbeds carries one vehicle on its deck. For a batch, we spread the units across the trucks that are available and make repeat trips. Give the dispatcher the count, the locations and your deadline, and they will plan the order so the most urgent cars move first.
What is in a photo condition report?
Pictures of every side of the vehicle, the wheels, the interior and the odometer, taken at pickup and again at drop-off. The driver also notes existing damage before loading. Your contact receives the images, which helps settle disputes with buyers, sellers and shops about when a mark appeared.
Can you deliver a sold car to the buyer's house?
Yes. Give us the buyer's address and a phone number, and we will arrange a time that suits them. The driver unloads the car in the driveway or at the curb, takes the drop-off photos, and gets a signature if you require one. It is a simple way to finish a sale with an out-of-town or busy customer.
Do you carry cars that don't run?
Yes. Cars that won't start are dragged up the deck by the cable winch, with skates placed under any wheel that refuses to roll. Let the dispatcher know when a unit has no key, a locked steering column or a flat tire, so the driver brings the right gear and the pickup doesn't stall.
How is dealer transport priced?
The dispatcher quotes one-off moves before a truck is assigned, and the office sets pricing for regular accounts before the first run. Distance, the number of units and any extra work, such as a non-running car, all affect the total. The rates page explains how our bills are put together.
Do you move inventory outside Columbus?
Yes. We run regularly to Delaware, Marysville, Lancaster and other nearby towns, and we take longer trips to Cincinnati, Dayton, Cleveland and neighboring states. The dispatcher will price the longer trip before it is scheduled so you know the total ahead of time.
Do you need the keys?
We can move a car without them, but keys make loading quicker and safer because the driver can release the parking brake and the steering lock. If the key is at another location, such as the auction office or the selling dealer, tell dispatch so the driver can pick it up first.
Can you handle electric and low-clearance cars for dealers?
Yes. Electric models travel with no tire touching the pavement, and we put them in transport mode when the model has one. Low cars are loaded with ramp extensions at a shallow angle. Our EV towing page describes how we handle electric inventory.
Can a private buyer book a single transport?
Yes. If you bought a car from a dealer across town or from a private seller and want it delivered, call dispatch. We will get the pickup address, the release details from the seller and the drop-off location, then quote the move before booking it.
What if a car arrives with damage?
Compare it with the pickup photos first. If the mark shows up in the pickup set, it was there before we loaded the car. If it is new, point it out to the driver at drop-off and call the office the same day so we can review both photo sets with you and work out the next step.
Can a dealership set up monthly billing?
Yes. Send your business name to lisa@autolyftusa.online, or phone the office, along with, billing contact and the routes you expect to use. Once the account is approved, runs are invoiced monthly with each unit listed by stock number, date, pickup and destination.
Can you hold a car between stops?
Yes. If the detail shop is booked until tomorrow or the buyer can't take delivery until the weekend, we can park the unit in our Harrisburg Pike yard between legs of the trip. Ask the dispatcher when you book so the hold is planned, and any storage charge is quoted with the move.
What dealer & auction transport costs
This work is priced per job because the equipment, distance and time vary so much. Call (614) 633-8163 with the details and the office quotes it before anything is scheduled. See the rates page for our standard charges.
