Whitehall Car Towing on Broad, Main and Hamilton

Whitehall is boxed in by I-70 and the I-270 outerbelt, with East Broad Street and Hamilton Road running through the middle, and nearly every call we take here traces back to one of those four.

  • Flatbed-only fleet

  • Licensed & insured

Measured from our Harrisburg Pike gate, Whitehall lies a little under 10 miles due east, close enough that it is one of the quicker east-side runs we make. A carrier can follow I-70 east through the downtown split and come off at Hamilton Road, or take I-270 to the Main Street or Broad Street exits, both of which are signed for Whitehall. You will hear a live estimate from the dispatcher based on the traffic at that hour.

This is a compact, busy city. East Broad Street carries traffic past the Defense Supply Center, Town and Country Shopping Center and the new Rockwell District rising where Broad crosses Hamilton Road. East Main Street (US-40) runs parallel to the south, and Yearling Road links the two past the high school and City Hall. Those corridors give us a lot of parking-lot work: batteries that die outside a store, keys left in an ignition, a tire that went flat on a pothole. The interstates on the edges add highway breakdowns and minor collisions, especially on the I-70 ramps at Hamilton Road.

Because Whitehall streets are lined with older homes on narrow lots, the driver sometimes has to load in the street rather than the driveway, and our flatbeds handle that without dragging the car. Stuck right now? Ring (614) 633-8163, or type out the location on our request form and dispatch will call you back.

Where calls come from

Roads we get called to in Whitehall

  • East Broad Street and Hamilton Road

The city's busiest crossing, with ODOT intersection work and the Rockwell District construction beside it; expect slow loading during rush hour.

  • I-70 at Hamilton Road (Exit 107)

Short ramps and heavy merging traffic on the south edge of Whitehall make this a familiar spot for stalled cars and rear-end collisions.

  • I-270 at Broad Street (Exit 39)

The outerbelt doorway to north Whitehall, often how our drivers arrive when I-70 downtown is backed up.

  • I-270 at Main Street (Exit 41)

Shared with Reynoldsburg on the signs; disabled cars on the ramps here need to be moved promptly because of how quickly traffic arrives.

  • East Main Street (US-40)

Runs along the south side of town past restaurants and small businesses where we field many no-start calls.

  • Yearling Road

Connects Broad and Main past Whitehall-Yearling High School and City Hall, with school traffic in the morning and mid-afternoon.

Around Whitehall

Shopping

  • Town and Country Shopping Center

Opened in 1948 and often called the first strip center in the country; its long lot is roomy enough for a carrier to pull right up to your car.

  • Rockwell District

A large mixed-use project under construction at Broad and Hamilton, where changing lane closures can affect how a truck reaches you.

Big employers

  • Defense Supply Center Columbus

A large federal installation on East Broad Street; we cannot drive onto the base, so a car broken down inside needs to be brought to a gate or released by security.

  • Wasserstrom Company

The foodservice supplier keeps its headquarters in Whitehall, part of a business base that brings plenty of commuter cars into town every weekday.

Parks

  • Whitehall Community Park

Entered from North Hamilton Road, with a YMCA, trails and disc golf; tell us which lot you are in, the Y or the trailhead.

  • John Bishop Memorial Park

A splash pad and amphitheater on Etna Road make for crowded summer evenings and a few dead batteries when the shows end.

Schools

  • Whitehall-Yearling High School

The city's only high school, on South Yearling Road, where student cars are a regular source of morning jump starts.

Towing in Whitehall: common questions

Which way does your truck come into Whitehall?

From our southwest Columbus yard, roughly 10 miles away as the crow flies, the driver usually follows I-70 east past downtown and exits at Hamilton Road. When that stretch is jammed, we go around on I-270 and come in at Broad Street or Main Street instead. The dispatcher picks the clearer path and passes along a live arrival estimate.

Can you tow a car from inside the Defense Supply Center on Broad Street?

Our trucks cannot enter the installation without permission from base security. If your car breaks down inside, check with security about having it moved to a gate or parking area outside the fence, or ask whether a visitor escort can be arranged. Once the car is somewhere we can reach, the job is a normal flatbed tow.

I stalled on the I-70 ramp at Hamilton Road. What now?

Turn on your flashers and stay buckled in; that ramp sees fast-moving traffic merging from both sides. Give the dispatcher your direction, eastbound or westbound, and whether you are on the exit or the on-ramp. If police arrive first and need the lane cleared, our emergency towing driver will coordinate with them.

Is construction at Broad and Hamilton slowing tows?

It can. The Rockwell District build-out and the intersection improvements there sometimes close turn lanes or narrow the roadway. Our drivers know the area well and may approach from Yearling Road or come off I-270 at Broad Street to avoid the bottleneck. If you are stuck right at the intersection, describe which corner you are on.

My car won't start in the Town and Country lot. Can you jump it?

Yes. That lot is one of our most frequent Whitehall stops for batteries that gave out. The driver connects a booster, then runs a quick test to see whether the battery is worth keeping. If it is finished, see our jump start service page for what the driver can do on site.

Can a flatbed load my car on a narrow Whitehall side street?

Usually, yes. Many neighborhoods off Broad and Main have tight driveways and cars parked on both sides of the street. The driver will often load from the street with the bed tilted, using the winch to pull the car on slowly. If space is very tight, wheel dollies help maneuver the car out of a cramped spot first.

How much will I pay for a tow in Whitehall?

Whitehall is closer to our yard than most east-side suburbs, which keeps the travel part of the price reasonable. Where the car is headed, the hour and any extra work also go into the total. You will have the complete figure before anyone is dispatched, and our rates page breaks down how it is calculated.

Do you also cover Bexley and Reynoldsburg from here?

Yes, Whitehall sits right between them, so our east-side trucks pass through often. We regularly continue to Bexley, Reynoldsburg, Brice and Gahanna, and we deliver Whitehall cars to repair shops all across Columbus or to your insurer's chosen body shop. Since Whitehall is a natural stop on the way back west, a car going to our own yard for storage makes an easy return trip.
