Gahanna Towing Between the Airport and Big Walnut Creek

Gahanna sits just past the airport on Columbus's east side, close enough that I-670 gets our trucks most of the way there.

Among the northeast suburbs, Gahanna is the nearest to our yard, about 11 miles away on a straight line from Harrisburg Pike. Even so, it is on the opposite side of downtown, so a call here takes longer than one in Grove City or Hilliard. The quickest path is usually I-70 or I-71 into downtown and then I-670 east past John Glenn International to the outerbelt. Once you call, the dispatcher checks traffic on that route and gives you a live estimate for the closest truck.

Hamilton Road (SR 317) is the backbone of Gahanna, running north-south through the old village core, past City Hall and up to the I-270 interchange, with shopping centers and restaurants along most of its length. The I-270 / I-670 / US 62 interchange on the western edge of the city is the other big source of calls, especially when airport traffic and commuters merge at rush hour. Downtown, Creekside's parking garage and the streets along Big Walnut Creek bring in lockouts and dead batteries, while neighborhoods off Morse Road, Stygler Road and Taylor Station Road account for most driveway jobs.

All four of our trucks are flatbeds, so a car leaving Gahanna rides on the deck instead of being dragged on two wheels. That is useful for front-wheel-drive commuter cars and for people heading home from the airport with a car that won't start in long-term parking. You get the price before dispatch, and the driver can take the car anywhere you choose. Our flatbed towing page covers how loading works; to book, phone (614) 633-8163.

Where calls come from

Roads we get called to in Gahanna

  • Hamilton Road (SR 317)

The main north-south street, lined with shopping plazas and signals. A car that dies here can usually coast into a lot, which makes loading quick and safe.

  • I-270 at I-670 / US 62 (Exit 35)

The interchange on the city's west side that links the outerbelt to the airport and to Johnstown Road. Heavy merging leads to stalls and minor crashes on its ramps.

  • I-270 at Hamilton Road (Exit 37)

The outerbelt interchange inside Gahanna, surrounded by hotels and restaurants where travelers often need a jump.

  • Granville Street

Runs east from the old village center past schools and churches; morning school traffic changes the approach for our driver.

  • Taylor Station Road

A long road on the south side, passing Gahanna Woods and several business parks, where shoulders are narrow.

  • Johnstown Road (US 62)

The diagonal route toward New Albany, which carries steady traffic between the outerbelt and the northeast suburbs.

  • Gahanna Civic Center

City offices and a senior center on Tech Center Drive, where daytime visitors sometimes call us for a jump.

Parks

  • Gahanna Woods State Nature Preserve

Wooded trails and wetlands off Taylor Station Road, with a small lot where a no-start is far more likely than a tow.

Towing in Gahanna: common questions

Is Gahanna the closest northeast suburb to your yard?

It is the nearest of that group, roughly 11 miles in a straight line from Harrisburg Pike. Our drivers usually go through downtown and take I-670 east past the airport to reach Gahanna. It is still farther than our southwest neighbors, so dispatch weighs traffic against where each truck is and calls out a live estimate before you hang up.

Can you help with a breakdown at the I-270 and I-670 interchange?

Yes. That interchange is busy, with traffic merging from the airport, Johnstown Road and the outerbelt. If you stall there, keep your seatbelt on and the hazards flashing, and tell us which ramp or direction you are on. Officers may ask for a quick clearance, and we coordinate with them so the car moves as soon as it is safe.

My car is stuck on a level of the Creekside garage. Can a tow truck get in?

It depends on the clearance posted at the entrance. A full carrier often cannot enter, so the usual plan is to jump the car, or roll it in neutral, down the ramps to the street where the deck can reach it. Our parking garage towing page explains the approach. Give us the level and the nearest stair tower when you call.

Do you tow cars from shopping plazas along Hamilton Road?

We do, and they are some of our most frequent Gahanna jobs. Most are dead batteries or locked-in keys, which the driver can usually take care of without a tow. If the car does need to go, the deck can usually be lowered right in the lot, and we take it to the shop you name.

I flew into John Glenn and my car won't start. Can you get to it from Gahanna?

Yes. The airport sits right next to Gahanna, and we can reach cars in its lots and nearby hotels. Tell us which lot, row and section you parked in. A jump usually solves a car that sat for a week, and if it doesn't, we can tow it home or to your shop.

After a heavy rain my car slid off near Big Walnut Creek. Can you winch it out?

Yes. Low spots near the creek and soft shoulders along the park roads can catch a car after heavy rain. Our winch can bring it back to pavement from a firm position. If the car is damaged or there's water in the engine bay, we load it on the flatbed rather than trying to start it.

How is the price of a Gahanna tow worked out?

Gahanna is closer than most of our northeast towns, so the drive is a smaller part of the bill. What else goes into it: the drop-off point, the hour you call, and any labor beyond a standard load. You get the whole quote before a truck is dispatched, and the rates page lays out how we calculate it.

What other towns near Gahanna do you serve?

From Gahanna we also cover New Albany, Blacklick, Whitehall, Westerville, Minerva Park and Reynoldsburg. Many of these share shops and dealers with Gahanna, so a tow from one town to another is common and gets a single quote. Whitehall and Reynoldsburg also sit on the way back toward our yard, which can make a late-night drop there easy to fit in.
