Sunbury is in Delaware County, and a ruler on the map puts it about 24 miles northeast of our gate. Getting there means crossing Columbus and running I-71 north to the US 36 / SR 37 exit, so this is a long call compared with the suburbs around our southwest base. We won't dress that up. The dispatcher checks which of our four carriers is closest and gives you a live estimate, and you can decide from there.
Most Sunbury trouble lands in one of two zones. The first is the interstate side: exit 131, where ODOT is rebuilding the interchange through 2027, and the Tanger Outlets on South Wilson Road, where shoppers come back to cars with drained batteries, soft tires or the keys sitting on the seat. Construction lane shifts at the ramps make breakdowns there awkward, and we plan the approach before the truck leaves. The second zone is the old town around the square on Cherry Street, where SR 3, US 36 and SR 37 come together and curbside spaces fill up on market Saturdays.
Outside those two areas, Sunbury is subdivisions and farmland roads where ditches and soft shoulders catch drivers in winter. Our light-duty flatbeds can winch a car back to the pavement or carry it to a shop in town, to Westerville or to your home. The price is agreed before anyone is dispatched. Call (614) 633-8163 at any hour.
Where calls come from
Roads we get called to in Sunbury
I-71 at US 36 / SR 37 (Exit 131)
Under reconstruction through 2027, with lane shifts and temporary ramps. If you stall in the work zone, stay in the car and give the dispatcher your exact ramp and direction.
US 36 / SR 37 west toward Delaware
The two routes share pavement from Delaware to Sunbury; two-lane stretches leave little shoulder for a disabled car.
SR 3 through town
Carries US 36 northeast out of Sunbury and runs past the square, where slow traffic and parked cars make for careful loading.
South Wilson Road
Leads to Tanger Outlets and the newer commercial area near the interstate; outlet-lot calls make up a good part of our Sunbury work.
Vans Valley Road
Edges the business and technology park on the east side, where wide new roads and few addresses make a GPS pin especially useful.

Around Sunbury
Shopping
- Tanger Outlets Columbus
The open-air outlet center off exit 131, with big parking fields where battery jumps and lockouts are far more common than full tows.
Landmarks
- Sunbury Town Hall
The 1868 hall on East Cherry Street that anchors the square; the streets around it are where downtown pickups happen.
- Sunbury Town Square
Site of the Saturday farmers market in warm months and the Christmas on the Square celebration, both of which crowd the surrounding curbs.
- Community Library
The library's own building on Burrer Drive, with a lot that is easy for a carrier to enter.
Schools
- Big Walnut High School
The Golden Eagles' newer building on North Miller Drive; game-night parking can slow a truck getting in.
Big employers
- Sunbury Business and Technology Park
A large business park on the east side along Vans Valley Road, still taking shape, so describe your spot by the nearest building or gate.
Parks
- Hoover Reservoir (north end)
The reservoir's upper reaches are a short drive from town, and gravel pull-offs by the water are a familiar place for us to winch out stuck cars.
Towing in Sunbury: common questions
How do your trucks reach Sunbury from Harrisburg Pike?
The usual route is through Columbus to I-71 and north to the US 36 / SR 37 exit, then west into town. It is a long run for a yard on the southwest side, so dispatch matches your call to whichever truck is positioned best and reads you a live estimate. If someone is already working near Westerville or Lewis Center, that can shorten the trip.
I'm stuck in the construction zone at exit 131. What should I tell you?
Tell us whether you are on a ramp, on I-71 itself or on US 36 / SR 37, plus your direction and any sign or barrier you can see. The rebuild has shifted lanes and narrowed shoulders, so precise directions help the driver reach you without a detour. Keep your seatbelt on until the truck is behind you.
My car won't start in the Tanger Outlets lot. Do I need a tow?
Probably not. Most outlet-lot calls end with a jump or a lockout opening, not a tow. Let us know which row or store you are near. If the battery fails a test, we can arrange a replacement battery on site, and a tow is only needed when something more serious is wrong.
Can you load a car near the town square on a market Saturday?
Yes, though it takes a little planning. Market days fill the curbs and slow traffic around Cherry Street. Our driver might park the carrier one block over and have you guide the car to it while it coasts. When it will not budge, cones go out and the load is done in the lane, briskly.
Do you handle ditch pull-outs on the country roads around Sunbury?
We do. Snow, ice and soft shoulders put cars into ditches on the township roads every winter. A flatbed with a winch can usually bring the car back to the road from solid ground. If there is no damage, you drive away; if there is, we load it and take it where you want.
Will you take my car from Sunbury to a dealer in Columbus?
Yes. Many Sunbury owners send their cars back to a dealer near Polaris or elsewhere in the Columbus area. The quote covers the full trip from pickup to drop-off, and the dispatcher can confirm the dealer's hours or after-hours key drop before we load. If the dealer is closed for the night, we can keep the car at our Harrisburg Pike yard and deliver it the next business day.
Is towing from Sunbury expensive because it is far away?
Distance adds to the cost, since the truck travels a long way before the tow even begins. Beyond that, the total moves with where the car ends up, what time you call and whether winching or other labor is needed. You hear the full price before dispatch, with no change after the job is done unless you ask for more work. See our rates page for how it is built.
What towns near Sunbury do you serve?
From Sunbury we regularly continue to Johnstown, Delaware, Lewis Center, Westerville, New Albany and Powell. A pickup in one town and a drop in another is a single job for us, quoted together before the truck heads out. That is handy when the best shop for your car is in a neighbouring town rather than Sunbury itself, or when you live in one town and broke down in another.
