Powell is one of the longer drives on our map, about sixteen miles north of the Harrisburg Pike yard and just over the Franklin County line in Delaware County. Carriers head north on SR-315 or take the outerbelt across to Sawmill Road, then continue up into town. Because the trip is longer than most, the dispatcher pays close attention to traffic before quoting you an arrival window.
The heart of Powell is the Four Corners, where SR-750 meets Liberty Street, and nearly every call in town passes through or near that intersection. During the morning and evening rush, backups there and along Olentangy Street can stretch for blocks, and overheating or a failing starter is common in that kind of crawl. Out west, the Sawmill Parkway retail area and the Golf Village neighborhoods bring a steady run of shopping-center lockouts and driveway no-starts. In summer, Powell Road toward the Columbus Zoo and Zoombezi Bay fills with visitors, and a car that dies in a zoo lot or on the road outside it can quickly slow everyone down.
Winter is a different story. The open stretches of Home Road, Seldom Seen Road and the roads toward the reservoir pick up blowing snow, and slide-offs into ditches are a regular cold-weather call. When that happens to you, phone (614) 633-8163 or send a request online. We will quote the job up front, then send a flatbed with a winch-out kit if the car is off the pavement.
Where calls come from
Roads we get called to in Powell
Four Corners (SR-750 at Liberty Street)
Powell's main intersection and the center of downtown. Rush-hour lines here are where tired starters and overheating engines tend to give up.
Sawmill Parkway
The west-side commercial road with big-box stores and the Golf Village area. Parking-lot lockouts and dead batteries make up most calls along it.
Powell Road toward the Columbus Zoo
SR-750 west of town carries heavy summer traffic to the zoo and water park, with limited places to pull over near the river.
Olentangy Street
A downtown street getting new pedestrian crossings with flashing beacons; expect slower traffic and stops for walkers near Depot and Hall streets.
Seldom Seen Road and Home Road
Open roads on the edges of town where snow drifts and deer can send cars into the ditch on dark winter nights.
Liberty Street
The north-south road through downtown, past the library and parks, with frequent school and event traffic.

Towing in Powell: common questions
Do you really send trucks all the way up to Powell?
Yes. Powell is about sixteen miles north of our yard, and we go there regularly. The driver usually takes SR-315 north or uses I-270 and Sawmill Road, depending on traffic and where you are. Because the distance is longer, the dispatcher checks current conditions and gives you an honest arrival estimate before you agree to the tow.
My car broke down in a Columbus Zoo parking lot. Can you get to it?
Yes. Give us the lot name or section, the row if you know it, and a description of the car. On busy summer days the lots and Powell Road can be congested, so the driver may call you on the way to confirm the best entrance. Many zoo calls are lockouts or dead batteries that can be fixed without towing.
Do you help during the Powell Festival on the Village Green?
Yes. The festival brings road closures and crowded side streets downtown. If your car will not start or you have locked yourself out, call us and tell us the street you parked on and the nearest cross street. The driver will work around the closures and may ask you to meet them at the edge of the festival area.
Traffic at the Four Corners killed my car. Can you move it fast?
We will get there as soon as we can. A car stopped in a live lane is dangerous, so get the flashers going, keep everyone seated and belted, and dial 911 if the situation feels unsafe. Tell our dispatcher which corner and which direction you were heading. Once on scene, our operator gets the car up on the bed and out of the junction before anything else, then hauls it to the shop you name.
My car slid into a ditch on Home Road. What happens next?
If nobody is hurt and you are out of traffic, stay in the car and call (614) 633-8163. The driver will look at how the car is sitting and use the winch to pull it back onto firm ground without damaging the bumper or underside. After that, the car either drives away or rides on the flatbed to a shop.
How does pricing work for a Powell tow?
Powell is near the outer edge of our usual area, so the mileage to reach you is a bigger part of the bill than it is in the closer suburbs. On top of that sit the length of the onward trip, the hour of your call and anything beyond a standard load. We give you the full price before sending a truck, and the rates page explains how it is calculated.
Can you take my car from Powell to a dealer in Columbus or Dublin?
Yes. A lot of Powell drivers have us carry their car to a dealer service center in Dublin, along Sawmill Road or elsewhere in Columbus. We will deliver it to the service drive during business hours, or hold it at our yard and bring it over the next morning if it is after hours.
What other towns near Powell do you serve?
Neighbouring areas we cover include Dublin to the southwest, Worthington to the southeast, Lewis Center to the east and the city of Delaware farther north. A driver finishing up in Powell can usually head over to any of them without a trip back to our yard first. If you are not sure whether your address counts as Powell or Liberty Township, it does not matter to us; we just need the street and number.
