Victorian Village is the historic district west of the Short North, running from Goodale Street and Goodale Park north to Fifth Avenue, with Harrison Avenue on its western side. Neil Avenue is the spine, a tree-lined street that keeps going straight into the Ohio State campus. Columbus gave it historic-district protection in 1973, and the houses, many from the late 1800s, sit close to the street with almost no driveways. Nearly every car in the Village lives at the curb.
That is why most of our work here starts with a parked car. A battery gives out after a week of sitting, a tire goes flat overnight, or the car is boxed in so tightly that the owner cannot get it out to drive to a shop. Brick pavers, raised tree roots and narrow lanes make careful loading important, and every tow we do is on a flatbed so the car rides fully off the ground. When ComFest fills Goodale Park in late June, or the fall tour of homes brings walkers through, getting a truck close takes more patience.
Our yard is on Harrisburg Pike in the southwest part of the city. From there the quickest way up is often SR-315 north to the Goodale exit, which puts the driver at the bottom of the Village; on other days I-70 to I-71 through Downtown is faster. The dispatcher prices the job before the truck leaves and tells you roughly when to expect it. Call (614) 633-8163 or book a tow online.
Street by street
Where we pick up cars in Victorian Village
Neil Avenue
The main north-south street, with parked cars on both sides and a straight run into Ohio State. Plenty of our Village pickups are along it.
Goodale Street
The southern boundary beside Goodale Park, fed from the west by SR-315's Goodale connector. It is usually how our trucks arrive.
West Fifth Avenue
The northern edge of the district, a busy east-west route between SR-315 and I-71.
Harrison Avenue
The western edge where Harrison West begins, with tight residential parking.
Park Street
A narrow street on the Short North side of the Village. Restaurant and bar traffic spills onto it at night, and loading space is scarce.
Buttles Avenue
Runs along the north side of Goodale Park. During the Community Festival (ComFest) both curbs fill up, so a stalled car here may be loaded from the end of the block.
West Fourth Avenue
A residential cross street with an 1890s church at its east end. Cars park tight to both curbs, so give the driver the nearest corner with Neil Avenue or Park Street.
North Park Street
The northern run of Park Street, where a hospital stood until the 1960s. Curb space is hard to find after dark, so a side lot or alley is often the better place to load.

Victorian Village towing questions
My car is parked at the curb under the trees with no driveway. How do you load it?
The driver pulls the carrier as close as traffic allows, tilts the bed, and winches your car straight up onto it. On streets where cars are parked nose to tail, the driver may first pull the car forward or backward a few feet to get a clean angle. Low branches are watched closely when the bed rises. If your car sits in a spot between two others, it helps to leave the keys out and the parking brake off.
Can you tow during ComFest weekend at Goodale Park?
Yes, but expect it to be harder to get close. ComFest is a free three-day music festival in Goodale Park in late June, and the streets around the park are crowded with visitors and parked cars. If your car is near the festival, the driver may ask you to meet at a corner where the carrier can stop safely. Calling earlier in the day, before the evening crowd builds, usually goes more smoothly.
Do Victorian Village brick streets damage cars during loading?
They should not. The bricks matter more for the tow truck than for your car, because the carrier needs firm footing when it tilts. Our drivers check the surface, avoid setting the bed edge on loose pavers, and use a gentle load angle. For low cars, extra ramps keep the bumper clear. The whole process takes place with your car rolling on its own wheels until it is on the deck.
What is the fastest way for your truck to reach Neil Avenue?
From our Harrisburg Pike yard, the driver often heads to SR-315 northbound and leaves at the Goodale connector, which comes out just south of the park. When that route is backed up, the driver crosses Downtown on I-70 and I-71 and comes in from the east. The dispatcher picks the route based on traffic at the time and tells you how long it should take.
Can you jump start my car if it has been sitting for weeks?
Usually. Cars that sit on the street for long stretches, which is common in the Village, often have batteries that are drained but not ruined. A driver brings a booster pack and tries a jump for the flat $75 roadside fee. If the battery will not hold a charge, the driver can replace it on the spot or tow the car to a shop. See our jump start page for what to expect.
Can a flatbed fit down the narrower Village streets and alleys?
Most of them, yes. Our carriers are light-duty trucks, not big wreckers, so they handle Park Street, Dennison Avenue and the alleys better than a heavy truck would. A few tight alleys are too short for the bed to tilt, and in those spots we pull the car out to the street with the winch before loading. Tell the dispatcher if your car is in a garage off an alley.
Do you tow from the Village to a shop or my home?
Yes. Most Victorian Village tows go to independent shops nearby, a dealer, or the owner's preferred mechanic in another part of town. We charge $7 per loaded mile on top of the $125 hook-up. When a shop has already locked up for the night, your car can wait at our yard for $45 a day until it opens. We do not repair cars, but we can recommend an independent partner shop if you need one.
What other neighborhoods are near Victorian Village?
The Village borders the Short North to the east, Harrison West to the west, Italian Village across High Street and the University District to the north. We cover all of them, along with every other part of Columbus, and the same flatbed and rate card apply wherever you are. If you are not sure which neighborhood you are in, a street address or a nearby landmark is all the dispatcher needs to send the right truck.
