Olde Towne East Towing for Mansion Blocks and Alleys

Olde Towne East lies just east of downtown, across I-71, with I-70 along its southern side. It holds some of the grandest late-nineteenth and early-twentieth-century homes in Columbus, many of them lining East Broad Street and Bryden Road, which gives a city historic district its name. Smaller brick and frame houses fill the blocks between, and the eastern edge reaches Franklin Park and its conservatory.

The layout of these streets shapes the towing. Big homes on Bryden, Town and Oak often have carriage houses or garages at the back of deep lots, reached by alleys that were built for horses. A car stored back there can be a long way from the street, and the alleys are often broken pavement with tight corners and utility poles. Out front, curb parking fills up near churches, restaurants and the conservatory on weekends. East Broad Street is wide and fast, and a car stopped there in rush hour needs moving quickly.

From our Harrisburg Pike yard, our trucks usually come across downtown on I-70, which puts the south side of the neighborhood within easy reach. We carry every vehicle on a flatbed, which matters to the many owners here who keep older or restored cars. Call (614) 633-8163 with the address and where the car sits on the lot, and the dispatcher quotes the full job first. You can also send the details through the request page.

Street by street

Where we pick up cars in Olde Towne East

  • East Broad Street

The main east-west route past mansions, churches and the old Tudor-style commercial block. Fast traffic means we want you out of the car and on the sidewalk while you wait.

  • Bryden Road

A residential street of historic homes and the heart of the city historic district. Deep lots here often hide garages along the back alley.

  • Parsons Avenue

The west-side business corridor, home to the city health department. Shops and bus stops crowd the curb.

  • I-71 (west edge)

Separates the neighborhood from downtown. Cars that fail on the ramps near Broad and Main often end up on the nearest side street.

  • I-70 (south edge)

Runs along the bottom of the neighborhood. Interstate pickups carry the $75 highway charge.

  • Oak, Town and Main streets

Older east-west streets with tight curb parking and alley access behind most of the larger homes.

Olde Towne East towing questions

My car is in a carriage house at the back of the lot. Can a flatbed reach it?

It depends on the alley. Many Olde Towne East garages sit at the rear of deep lots and open onto narrow, sometimes rough alleys. If the flatbed can back in, we load right there. If not, the driver will roll or winch the car out to the alley mouth or the street. Tell us about any gates, posts, overhead wires or low branches when you call, and we will plan for them.

Do you tow restored or classic cars from Olde Towne East?

Yes, and they ride only on a flatbed, so no tire turns on the pavement during the trip. Many owners in the neighborhood keep older cars in their garages, and some have not run in a while. Let us know the make, model and year, whether it rolls, and whether it has low ground clearance or custom parts. The driver uses soft straps and takes care around trim and bumpers.

My car stalled on East Broad Street during rush hour. What should I do?

Put the hazards on, and if it is safe, get out on the curb side and wait on the sidewalk. East Broad moves fast, and people sitting in a stalled car are at risk from rear-end crashes. Call us with the nearest cross street and your direction. If police arrive first, they may push the car to the curb, and we will pick it up from there.

Can you help at Franklin Park Conservatory on an event night?

Yes. Lockouts and dead batteries in the conservatory lots are common after weddings, exhibits and evening events. Say whether you parked in the main conservatory lot or along the street and, for a private event, whether there is staff at the gate. Our roadside flat rate is $75, with the overnight surcharge applying after 10 PM. If the car needs a tow, we load it right there.

Do you tow from the ramps where I-71 meets the neighborhood?

Yes. The ramps on the west edge connect Olde Towne East to downtown, and they can be short and crowded. If you stall on a ramp, stay inside with your belt on and call 911 if you are blocking traffic. Then call us with the ramp name. If you made it onto a city street, the highway surcharge does not apply.

Is parking near my house a problem for the tow truck?

Sometimes. Many Olde Towne East streets have cars along both curbs, and the big trees make it hard to see from a distance. The driver will look for the best spot to load, which might be a few houses down. If you can save space at the curb by moving a second car or putting out cones, the job goes faster.

Where can you take my car from Olde Towne East?

Wherever you like: a shop on Parsons, a dealer, your insurer's body shop or another driveway. We are not a repair shop, but we can recommend an independent partner shop that diagnoses and quotes before any repair. If the destination is closed, we can keep the car at our yard on Harrisburg Pike for $45 a day and deliver it when they open.
