Westgate is a 1920s neighborhood tucked inside the larger west side, framed by West Broad Street on the north, Sullivant Avenue on the south and Wilson Road on the west. From our yard at 1620 Harrisburg Pike, the trip is a short climb north through the Hilltop, so Westgate is about as local as our work gets. When a resident calls about a car that won't start in the driveway, the driver usually knows the street before the dispatcher finishes reading the address.

The houses here are mostly modest brick and frame homes on curving blocks around Westgate Park, with single-car driveways and garages set back at the end of the lot. That layout shapes how we tow. Our flatbeds often load from the street, so the driver might pull the car to the curb with a winch line first, or ask you to move a second car out of the way. On Broad and Sullivant the job looks different: shoppers, commuters and church traffic, with the occasional breakdown at a bus stop or in a busy lot.

Every vehicle we move rides on a flatbed, whether it is a family minivan, an older sedan or a newer all-wheel-drive crossover. You hear the full price before the truck leaves, based on our published rates. Call (614) 633-8163 any hour, or send the details through the request page.

Street by street

Where we pick up cars in Westgate

  • West Broad Street (north edge)

The busy side of Westgate, with the Saturday farmers market on the West Gate Lodge lawn in season and the coming LinkUS bus lanes along the curb.

  • Sullivant Avenue (south edge)

Passes the Camp Chase Confederate Cemetery entrance. Tell us if you are pulled over near the cemetery gate so the driver can find you on the long block.

  • Wilson Road

The west boundary, carrying traffic down from I-70 and toward the outerbelt; a common route for our trucks heading in and out.

  • South Powell Avenue

Home to West High School, where weekday arrival and dismissal fill the curbs for a while.

  • Binns Boulevard and the park streets

The curving residential blocks around Westgate Park, where most of our driveway jump starts and lockouts happen.

  • South Westgate Avenue

The address street for the park and its community center. If you are stuck in a park lot, this is the street to give the dispatcher.

  • South Roys Avenue

Home to the Catholic parish church and its buildings. Around service times the curbs are fuller, so the driver may load around the corner.

  • South Algonquin Avenue

Runs just north of the park past a Methodist church; a calm residential street where a carrier can usually stop beside the car.

  • Parkside Road

The parish school sits on this street, so weekday drop-off and pickup bring a short rush of parked and idling cars.

Parks

  • Westgate Park

A big neighborhood park with a fishing lake, a walking loop and the oversized ABC letters; its parking lots fill on summer evenings.

The stocked fishing lake inside Westgate Park; if your car will not start after an evening of fishing, say you are at the lake so the driver goes to the nearest lot.

Landmarks

  • Camp Chase Confederate Cemetery

A Civil War cemetery on Sullivant Avenue with a stone memorial arch from 1902.

  • On the Wings of Change

The large monarch butterfly sculpture inside Westgate Park, installed in 2015.

The city rec center in the park, with a gym, auditorium and weight room. Its lot is a simple place to meet the driver.

A 1941 church on South Algonquin Avenue, on the north side of Westgate Park.

Westgate towing questions

Is Westgate close to your tow yard?

Yes, it is one of the closest neighborhoods we serve. Our trucks start at 1620 Harrisburg Pike, south of the Hilltop, and reach Westgate on local roads. Because en-route travel is billed at $4 a mile from the yard, a Westgate call keeps that part of the price small. The dispatcher will tell you how soon a truck can arrive based on where the drivers are at that moment.

My driveway is narrow and the car is up by the garage. Can you still get it?

In most cases. Many Westgate homes have a single-lane driveway leading back to a detached garage. A flatbed may not fit all the way up, so the driver often backs to the end of the drive and pulls the car down with the winch. If the car is in gear and will not roll, or a wheel is locked, mention it, because that changes the approach.

Can you help at Westgate Park if I lock my keys in the car?

Yes. Lockouts at the park lot are common, especially from people walking the loop or fishing at the lake. Our lockout service is part of the $75 roadside flat rate, and the driver uses wedge and long-reach tools to open the door without damage. You will need to show ID that matches the vehicle before the driver opens it, and if the keys are visible inside, tell us where so the driver can plan the reach.

My car broke down near the Camp Chase cemetery on Sullivant. Where do I tell the driver?

Give the dispatcher the side of Sullivant you are on and whether the gate is ahead of you or behind you. The block is long and the stone wall makes it easy to miss a car pulled to the curb, so a landmark helps. Keep your hazards on, and if traffic is heavy, wait on the sidewalk rather than next to the car.

Do you tow from the Saturday farmers market on West Broad?

We do. A car that won't start after the market is a quick job for us. The side streets fill up on market mornings, so tell the dispatcher exactly which street you parked on and roughly how far from Broad. If the car is boxed in, the driver may need a few minutes to reposition it before loading, and a quick word with the neighbor who parked close usually helps.

What is the price for a tow from Westgate to a nearby shop?

It depends on the shop's distance and the time of day, but the parts are fixed: the trip out is $4 per mile from our yard, loading costs $125, and every mile with your car aboard is $7. Nights, weekends and highway pickups add the surcharges listed on our rates page. The dispatcher adds it up and tells you the total before the truck leaves.

Can you take my car to a repair shop if I don't have one?

Yes. We are not a repair shop ourselves, but we can suggest an independent partner shop that will diagnose the problem, give you a quote and do the repair if you approve it. Many Westgate customers also take their cars to garages along Broad or Sullivant. Either way, we deliver the car and leave the keys where the shop asks.
